Job Purpose
The Head of Secondary provides strategic leadership for the Secondary School, empowering students, staff, and families to achieve excellence in learning, wellbeing and personal growth. The role fosters a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and belonging while ensuring students achieve the Regent's Graduate Profile.
About the Role
Strategic Leadership
• Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of the Secondary School.
• Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.
• Drive school improvement through self-evaluation and evidence-based decision-making.
• Ensure outstanding teaching and learning for secondary team
• Lead the implementation of the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme.
• Maintain high academic standards and improve student outcomes.
• Monitor and enhance teaching quality through coaching, observation, and data analysis.
• Ensure a coherent, challenging, and future-focused curriculum.
• Promote innovative pedagogy, digital literacy, and the ethical use of AI.
Assessment, Data and Student Outcomes
• Lead and oversee assessment, recording, reporting and tracking systems.
• Analyse performance data to identify trends, strengths and areas for improvement.
• Ensure effective intervention strategies are implemented for students requiring additional support or challenge.
• Monitor examination performance and lead improvement planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external assessment requirements.
• Present academic performance data to principal and relevant stakeholders.
Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Leadership
• Lead a safe, inclusive and positive environment that supports student wellbeing and success.
• Ensure effective safeguarding, behaviour and attendance practices.
• Encourage student leadership, service, and co-curricular engagement.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student achievement and wellbeing.
• Ensure all students develop the attributes of the Regent's Graduate Profile.
Staff Leadership and Professional Development
• Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing Secondary team
• Build positive and productive professional relationships within the school leadership team.
• Conduct performance reviews and professional growth conversations.
• Identify talent and support succession planning.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and retention of outstanding educators.
• Ensure staff remain current with developments in curriculum and educational technology.
Parent and Community Engagement
• Build strong, positive and trusting relationships with parents and guardians.
• Lead parent information sessions, academic evenings and community events.
• Address parent concerns professionally and collaboratively.
• Communicate student achievements and school successes effectively.
• Strengthen engagement with the wider Regent's community and external partners.
• Act as an ambassador for the school at internal and external events.
Operational Leadership
• Oversee the effective day-to-day operation of the Secondary School.
• Lead timetabling, examinations, reporting cycles and academic calendars.
• Manage staffing deployment and resource allocation.
• Support budget planning and responsible financial management.
• Maintain efficient systems to support teaching, learning and student wellbeing.
• Support admissions, transitions and student retention initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Required Skills/Abilities
About You
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
• PGCE, QTS, or an internationally recognized teaching qualification.
• Proven track of 4 years in school leadership role.
• Experience delivering English National Curriculum, IBDP experience is preferred
• Experience in international schools, with strong cross-cultural competence and the ability to support EAL learners.
• Experience managing budgets, resources, and educational operations effectively.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven and KPI-focused approach.
• Proficiency in educational technology, learning management systems, and school information systems.
