ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Nord Anglia International School Dublin is an IB school for students aged 3 to 18, where small classes, personalised learning and a distinctive pastoral model mean every student is known well. Our colleagues come from nearly 50 countries, and together we have built a warm, close-knit international community in the heart of south Dublin.

As part of Nord Anglia Education’s family of more than 80 schools, our students learn through collaborations with MIT, The Juilliard School, UNICEF and King’s College London, alongside regular trips and projects across Ireland and the wider region.

THE ROLE

As Head of Secondary, you will lead our Secondary School through the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, setting the direction for teaching, learning and student wellbeing across both. You will sit on the Senior Leadership Team, report to the Principal and lead a team of middle leaders, teachers and support staff who know their students well.

This is a role with real reach. You will shape the curriculum, raise the quality of everyday teaching, and be the person families meet when they are deciding whether our school is right for their child. You will also act as Deputy Designated Liaison Person for child protection, so safeguarding sits at the centre of everything you do.

Teaching and learning

  • Write and lead the Secondary development plan
  • Strengthen MYP and DP curriculum and assessment
  • Use progress data to lift standards for every student

People and culture

  • Recruit, develop and keep excellent teachers
  • Lead appraisal, coaching and professional growth
  • Plan succession for key Secondary roles

Families and community

  • Meet prospective families and oversee Secondary admissions
  • Represent the school at events and in the media
  • Build links with partners, alumni and local organisations

Operations and safeguarding

  • Manage the Secondary budget and timetable
  • Lead crisis planning and safety procedures
  • Ensure compliance with IB, Tusla and Irish requirements

Essential

  • Qualified teacher status and an honours degree, with substantial experience in international secondary education
  • Significant experience of the IB MYP and DP, including leadership roles in an international setting
  • A clear record of improving teaching, learning and assessment, and using data to do it
  • Strong communication and cross-cultural skills, with the confidence to represent the school to families and partners
  • Sound safeguarding knowledge and a firm commitment to the welfare of every student
  • The right to work in Ireland, or the ability to meet Irish visa requirements

Desirable

  • A Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership
  • Experience as an IB Coordinator or in a similar curriculum leadership role
  • Experience of budget management, timetabling and staff recruitment
  • Confidence with technology in teaching and learning, including hybrid approaches

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A competitive salary and benefits package, set out in our Employee Benefits Brochure
  • A senior leadership role with genuine influence over the direction of the school
  • Professional development through Nord Anglia University and NAE leadership programmes
  • Membership of the Nord Anglia Education global network of more than 80 schools in over 30 countries, with real opportunities to collaborate and progress
  • Access to our collaborations with MIT, The Juilliard School, UNICEF and King’s College London
  • Life in Dublin: a friendly, English-speaking European capital with the coast and mountains close by
